Get your Bribes Ready, Here are your World Cup Referees

By: WC Bob | June 3rd, 2006 | 7 Comments »

This is the moment you have all been waiting for. FIFA has announced the names of the referees who will make your lives miserable during the first 16 matches of the World Cup. Argentine referee Horacio Elizondo gets the honor of calling the opening match between Germany and Costa Rica. The highly experienced referee spends his working hours as a physical education instructor and will be happy to pick up the $40,000 he and every ref is getting paid for being part of the World Cup. World Cup Blog hero Cofi Codjia will not be working any of the first 16 games. He is undoubtedly being saved for the final.

I checked the link. Can anyone tell me what a fifth official is? Is he the substitute ref in case anything happens to the ref?

i agree^ check wikipedia. there was more than 1 error made on the ref’s part. like 2 penalties were supposed to be given to the korean team. 2 penalty kicks clearly were to be given, but he ignored these called. wikipedia. check it out.

Does FIFA have any regulations???? really? I totally cannot believe.
It was NOT A FAIR GAME between COREA and Swiss.
I think that I cannot trust referees’ judgment. It was a hasty judgment.
It absolutely was a referee’s mistake .
Our players became demoralized because of ONE REFEREE’s nonsensical judgment.
FIFA President is a Swisser . I know. All Coreans KNOW that.
I am very very disappointed with FIFA and I do not want to watch any football games
never.. ever…because it will always be Unreliable.
I think that FIFA needs to take a hearing test, an eyesight test and a lie
Detector test when you recruit referees. I truly hope so.
