Germany World Cup Stars Honored

For all their hard work and the honor they brought their country, Germany’s World Cup players were presented today with a cheap looking silver laurel, the country’s top sporting award.

“You developed a style, on and off the field, that enthused us all and had been missing for a long time,” said German President Horst Koehler.

Noticeably absent from the award ceremony was the coach of the team, Jurgen Klinsmann. That can only mean one thing: the surf is up today in California.

Michael Ballack also missed out in the fun after sustaining an injury in Chelsea’s Community Shield loss to Liverpoool on Sunday.

Meanwhile, new Germany boss Joachim Low has named a squad for Wednesday’s friendly that will look very familiar if you spent any time watching Germany play in the World Cup this summer.

    Well…
good comment, but i wouldn’t go so far as to call the laurel “cheap looking” … i guess you saw it on TV right? So how can u tell?
Besides, its kinda disrespectfull to call a nations top sporting award “cheap”. Its not what it looks like, but what it stands for.
