Germans Bummed about Seeing their Chancellor’s Backside

Let the tabloid wars begin. In a prelude to what will be a battle of headline writing wit from now until the end of the World Cup, England’s Sun newspaper has launched the first salvo by showing a picture of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s briefly exposed bottom under a headline that reads, “I’m Big in the Bumdestag”. It comes as no surprise that the Germans are slightly miffed about this, especially since this will force their tabloids to publish pictures of Tony Blair’s hideously scrawny ass. It is only going to go downhill from here with tabloids on both sides trying to outdo one another with puns, historical stereotypes and mentions of wars gone by. We can’t wait. It is starting to smell like World Cup season.
