French Fans sue over Zidane World Cup Head Butt

Just when you thought we could finally put to bed the whole Zinedine Zidane World Cup head butt controversy and concentrate on really important things like who Paris Hilton is sleeping with this week minute, along comes a group of French fans who are suing FIFA and the French football federation because they say Zidane was wrongly sent off in the final.

Two groups of fans – the National Collective for Truth on the Final of the 2006 World Cup and World Cup Justice 2006 – had their moment in court today. What they are hoping to get out of this other than a brief moment of publicity is anyone’s guess, but I have the sinking suspicion that at the end of the case Italy will still be champion and no one will be sentenced to the guillotine.
