FIFA to Crack Down on Racism at World Cup

   

In a move that we can only applaud, FIFA president Sepp Blatter announced today that FIFA’s new policies against racism will be in effect at the World Cup this summer. FIFA has announced harsh penalties for clubs and countries whose supporters commit “acts of racism or discrimination in football.” Penalties could include match suspensions, point deductions and a ban from international competitions for up to two years. Simply put, racism has no place in football or at the World Cup. We can only hope that FIFA lives up to its pledge to enforce these very sensible rules.
