FIFA Sticks to May 15 Roster Deadline

By: WC Bob | March 16th, 2006 | 1 Comment »

Despite the objections of high profile coaches like Sven-Goran Eriksson and Marco Van Basten, the Lords of FIFA have ruled that rosters must be finalized for the World Cup by May 15, nearly a full month before the whole enchilada kicks off. The coaches wanted the date to be pushed back, but FIFA held its ground. We have no idea why the rosters need to be submitted so early, but we do know that this May 15 will be the second anniversary of Josh Findley’s discovery of the largest prime number known to man: 224036583 − 1. Here’s hoping that a player on each team selects to wear this number during the World Cup.
