FIFA: It is ok for our Cronies to Illegally Scalp World Cup Tickets

The world’s football governing body showed again today that it plays by an entirely different set of rules than anyone else in this world. FIFA’s executive committee has expressed disapproval at the conduct of vice-president Jack Warner, but in a move that is shocking to no one, decided that they wouldn’t bother punishing one of their own.

“The committee expressed its disapproval…drawing attention to the fact that Mr Warner should be more cautious and prudent,” FIFA president Sepp Blatter told a news conference at the organisation’s Swiss headquarters.

“That is all there is to say in relation to this affair and we now consider the case closed.”

That’s a relief. Let’s all forget that it is well documented that Warner has used his position for personal gain. Let’s all forget that FIFA has formed an independent ethics body because it can’t police itself. Let’s get back to the really important issues at hand like playing league football in the summer despite the obvious conflicts with the World Cup and European Championships and limiting the number of brown skinned players in the domestic leagues in Europe.

The Warner scandal is a microcosm of what is wrong with Blatter’s little gang of cronies at FIFA. They are accountable to no one but themselves. As a result, they work the system so that it benefits themselves at the expense of the average football fan.

FIFA should be ashamed. Sadly, shame does not appear to be an emotion that exists in the castle in Geneva.

When Sepp Blatter says that Jack Warner should be more cautious and prudent, did he mean that he should try harder not to get caught? It’s time for people like Beckenbauer and Platini to take over in Geneva and clean house.
