Despite Losing Arm, Julio Gonzalez Vows to Play Again
Talk about courage. Paraguay striker Julio Gonzalez says he is considering having a prosthetic arm fitted so that he can resume his football career next season. Gonzalez had his arm amputated in January following an automobile crash in Italy, effectively ending the Vicenza striker’s hopes of representing his country at the World Cup. “To be alive is already a bonus for me,” he observed. “I realise the risk I ran, but to be able to go home and play with my two children is a gift from God.” Here’s hoping that Gonzalez continues to recover and we see him on the pitch again in the future.

I wish the best to Julio.
There was an Uruguayan player that played with one arm in Argentina and even in one World Cup, but this was a long time ago.
Let see what miracles can make the medicine in these days…

An inspiration to all. I will certainly cheer for any team he’s on. Good luck to him. I am reminded of Def Leppard’s drummer.

Hector Castro scored the fourth goal for Uruguay when they won the first World Cup final 4-2 against Argentina in 1930.
Castro had lost his left arm in a childhood accident.

In einem Bericht sah ich das Schicksal von Julio und wie er damit umgeht. Mir ist aehnliches passiert und ich haette nun gerne gewusst, ob er seine Schuhe selber binden kann (eine Anleitung gibts auf meiner HP). Gruss Nik
