Day 4: Bad World Cup Hair Day

By: WC Bob | June 13th, 2006 | 7 Comments »

It is tough to follow some of the World Cup hair disasters we witnessed the first three days of action, but on Day Four a couple of players made their case for earning a spot on the World Cup Worst Hair team.

The first is Hidetoshi Nakata who has lived up to his nickname as the “Beckham of Japan.” For this tournament, Nakata is sporting a bit of a shaved/spiked look with a color that doesn’t naturally exist in this universe. The style isn’t the worst we have seen but the color just doesn’t work well with his flesh tones. Huge fashion disaster.

Our other potential candidate came off the bech during the Czech Republic’s win against the United States. Jan Polak actually woke up one morning and decided he wanted to have a mowhawk that is died blonde on top. The return of the mohawk is one disturbing trend we are seeing this year. We thought that would be a one-tournament fad, but apparently Polak and a few others failed to get the memo.

Have a bad hair candidate? Fire off a comment and we’ll evaluate if his failed follicles are truly worthy of being part of the World Cup Worst Hair team.

I’m running a new petition to send to FIFA for regulation hair. Either make it sensible and reasonable or shave it off…in public on the field before the game!! :D

Actually, I’ll add Camoranesi of Italy … that horse tail really doesn’t suit him although that blow-dry did improve things.
