A lot of people, like Gary Lineker don’t want to see these players in the EPL.

About C Ronaldo…

After reading the article, one gets the feeling these english will never “forgive” C Ronaldo, for what what they did themselves (to themselves)…

Rooney stamped Carvalho’s balls. C Ronaldo was there, told the ref it was a foul, maybe even asked the ref to card Rooney.

Elegant? Not really… Uncommun? Only in the Moon, or in Jupiter… Did it really afect the ref’s decision? In good true, no one could ever answer this, except of course the ref.

But anybody can give an educated guess, and everybody knows it didn’t play any part whatsoever.

C Ronaldo’s house, in England, was vandalised (thrashed) in the events follow up.

And still TODAY, in the english press (The Mirror, not The Sun), the event is still refered to as “his role in Ronney’s sending off”. This guy, C Ronaldo, is for the english a much worse case than Rooney…

Let’s see…

Rooney stamped on a player’s balls, shoved another and got a red. C Ronaldo was there, told the ref it was a foul, was shoved, got his house thrashed, is still one of the indispensable players at Man Utd…

HMM… Yup! C Ronaldo IS the guilty party, naturally… Actually, he’s guilty of everything… Also the isralei vs palestinian conflict, why not…

I don’t agree with you. The issue of whether the foul was intentional or not is up for debate and depends on who you speak to.
However, I do feel that C. Ronaldo’s attempt to influence the referee was unacceptable. In my eyes, it is no different from diving or rolling over a few more times to make the offender look bad.

Steve, we saw players in almost every game attempting to get other players carded, agreed this is a disgrace, but it should never affect the referee (and if it does, the referee should have the finger pointed at him as much as the player). The fact that this is still being even mentioned in the press is proof of a beat-up which leads to things like Ronaldo having his house vandalised – I’m no fan of his, but that kind of behaviour by the fans is far more disgusting than anything that occurred on the pitch.

@Steve: It is said that 1 image is worth 1000 words:

Here you go and judge for yourself (notice where the ref is, notice Rooney wasn’t falling as he claims, notice Petit was there much before than C Ronaldo, also notice that it should have also been a foul against POR, much before the stamping):

So, I mean, it’s not POR’s fault that England just can’t take the toll of their own doing, and simply hide behind a cloth of “we are ther utterly fair team, playing the utterly cynics and cheats”. Just grow up.

Anyway… :-)

I have never commented on any of the messages before, but find the banter interesting. My only contribution is some blatant advertising The World Cup Game. If you like all things to do with World Cup and like a board game recreating the 1930 and 2002 tournaments then please take a look.

Pedro, I agree with you and Steve I dont think its a “disgraceful” act at all to “attempt to get a player carded.” If a player feels they or someone on their team is wronged, they almost always let the ref know this. It usually doesnt affect the ref’s decision and sometime they actually get cards after speaking out of turn.

Rooney should be ashamed of himself and so should the English. They have rallied behind him and his stupidity just like the French around Zidane. We should punish this behaviour; not glorify it. The refs did just that. How can anyone disagree?
