Colombia Keeper Scores as Poland Lose

By: WC Bob | May 30th, 2006 | 20 Comments »

It is a good thing that friendlies don’t matter. Otherwise if you are a Poland fan you might be a bit concerned about your team’s form heading into the World Cup. Not only did Poland lose to Colombia at home 2-1, but they were scored upon by Colombia goalkeeper Luis Martinez. I haven’t seen the actual goal, by my buddy Bense in Dortmund reports that it was a long goal kick that took a bounce and was terribly misplayed by the Poland keeper Tomasz Kuszczak. A classic blunder.

I can’t wait to see the video of this and for it to be added to the montage of keeper goals below.

That last goal was one that Ronaldinho would be glad to call his own!

Well, Ronaldinho had a similar goal, but for a goalkeeper to do that.. Jesus. He was really confident.

Anyways, I’ve just seen Colombia’s goal on TV now. A true blunder; the ball bounced once, the goalkeeper was too advanced, didn’t make it back on time, and the ball passed just between him and the horizontal goal pole. Pretty funny if you ask me.

Hee.

What’s their excuse for not having Jerzy Dudek in the squad, again?

great collection Todd, thanks for putting these rare (and hilarious) goals on the web. Goalkeepers scoring is always fun - I saw a few in ice hockey, never one in soccer.

I wasn’t Artur Boruc. It was WBA’s goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak.

[...] Colombia 2 - Poland 1 …who not only lost to Colombia at home, but also conceded a goal to Colombia’s keeper Luis Martinez. Poland fielded mainly a reserve unit, which received mocking cheers from the home crowd. Poland’s run up to the World Cup hasn’t exactly been smooth, a common theme for the teams in Group A…. [...]
