Bora Milutinovic: Running out of options

By: WC Bob | January 2nd, 2006 | No Comments »

Interesting column in The Guardian about Bora Milutinovic, who has coached five different countries in the past five World Cups but who is currently on the outside looking in for World Cup 2006.

Bora is apparently eager to get back into the swing of things and football’s greatest mercenary is sitting by his phone waiting for a call that will take him to the far reaches of the globe.

Milutinovic’s record speaks for itself, but I’ve always thought that he is a better self promoter than he is a coach. He has fashioned himself the master of the quick fix and it might be tempting for a team to take a chance on him at the last minute if it struggles in the upcoming round of friendlies or in the African Nations Cup.

I think he’ll get another chance somewhere in the future but that his future won’t include a trip to Germany.
