Big Question: Who’s Going to Win on Day 6?

By: WC Bob | June 14th, 2006 | 21 Comments »

The final four teams open up their World Cup campaigns. Spain takes on Ukraine, Tunisia slugs it out with Saudia Arabia and Germany looks to punch its ticket to the next round against Poland. Looking at this schedule and I can’t help but think it is going to be a great day of World Cup football. So who will win and who will feel misery?

That is up to you to decide. If your prediction have stunk to this point, now is your chance at redemption. If you have been a genuis thus far, keep it up and tell us today’s winners and losers.

The first post is mine, so I’d better predict no nonsense:

SPA 1:2 UKR
Spain are way over rated! Go Sheva & Co!!

TUN 2:1 ARA
I admit, I tossed a coin for thi one

GER 3:2 POL
Germany will continue to play the dumb line defense, so we’ll have lots of goals!!!

Spain 1:2 Ukraine
I’m no ukraine fan, but have a feeling…

Tunisia 1:0 Saudis
Tunisians too strong for Saudis…

Germany 3:1 Poland
Poland goes for its 1st goal, but it its not enough…

Could this be Spain’s WC? No, they are not overrated, they have a strong team - but also a history of underperforming. Can they get rid of the curse. Let’s hope so.

Spain - Ukrain 3-1
Tunesia - Saudi Arabia 2-0

And Germany will not risk loosing this one:

Germany - Poland
1-1

Spain could be disappointing as usual, Suadis will only disturb Tunisia. And Germany will move with confidence.

Spain - Ukrain 2-3
Tunesia - Saudi Arabia 2-1
Germany - Poland 3-1

Tunisia 2 Saudi Arabia 2
Spain 1 Ukraine 1
Germany 3 Poland 0

I also predict more bad announcing by ESPN and they will tell us at least 10 times that the US will have to regroup against Italy on Saturday @2:55 EST.

I really wish I had time to participate more fully in this blog because I am sure there is some good reading here and great folks, but this WC in the host country is just one big blur sometimes and time is scarce and morning-after headaches plentiful.

Winners:

Ukraine 2-1
Germany 3-1
Tunisia 1-0

BRASIL!!!!

LOL Nello. I was suspecting some lingering WW2 animosity with that Poland 4-0 prediction. Glad it was only a typo.

Spain will beat the highly overrated Ukraine.

Tunisia will beat Saudi Arabia. Both teams will play attacking football. I’m sure this match will be a lot more entertaining than France-Switzerland last night.

Germany will beat Poland. Ballack is back!
