Big Question: Who’s Going to Win on Day 5?

By: WC Bob | June 13th, 2006 | 36 Comments »

This competition certainly hasn’t lacked for action nor has it lacked for winners and losers. There’s only been one draw thus far. Will that change today? We have another three games on tap, starting with Togo against South Korea. France and Switzerland then square off and the nightcap is Brazil against Croatia. A very interesting day of football lies ahead. Who will come out on top and who will be left crying?

Get your predictions down now or you’ll never be able to tell your friends how smart you were.

Ooooh.

France to win 2:1
South Korea to win 3:1
Brazil to draw Croatia 1:1 (Croatia’s first ever draw in World Cup).

Mmmhhh. Cheese fondue. Damn, did you have to say that!

Before 2002 Korea always sucked. They will again this year.

Togo being forsaken by their coach? Ha. That’s what you get for being greedy! Instead of being happy and proud to represent their country at the WC for the first time (and cashing 120k) they need to protest and demand 150k. Stupid. I hope they go out hard and quick. Pfister left them because he couldn’t deal with the constant turmoil between team and asociation anymore.

I don’t think that Korea will have such an impact on this tournament, but they should beat Togo comfortably given their awful preparations.

Switzerland are a decent bet to get a draw with France, whose manager appears to have caught foaming international manager disease (they should never have let British beef back into France… :-))

Brazil ought to win, but it won’t be that easy for them. Croatia will play well, but Brazil will still get the result.

I agree with Milan from Australia. I think Brazil will lose to Croatia. The “Beautiful Game” sucks the big one.
South Korea 3 Togo 0
France 2 Switzerland 1
Croatia 3 Brazil 2

Ronaldo will be replaced somewhere around half-time. He is out of shape and rusty from his lack of playing in Spain due to injuries. Croatia isn’t one of these push overs like the team from Luzerne.

Very dull

I fancy this to be the first big upset of the WC.

Brazil 3 Croatia 1

Not sure why alot of people are “worried” about Brazils defence? Reberto Carlos on the left (arguably the bset in thast position in the left) Cafu on the right (4th world cup, vastly experiencd in his position, that there area few players in the Brazilian squad who cant get a place because of him) Then in the middle is Lucio who can be solid (Bayern Munich) and Juan! and there are a few others WAITING on the bench! plus they have a star goalkeeper,-the goalkeeper of AC Milan- DIDA! and their reserve goalkeeper is 1st choice by Inter!! in defenseive midfield they have Arsenal star Gilberto Silva! dont doubt their defnece and we all know their offence!

The best quote I heard about Brazil is:”the world cups is theirs to loose!”

this game will be wither 2-0 or 3-0 to them!

The pressure is on for Brazil. They aren’t as spectacular as everyone thinks, but I think they’ll still win this game. One goal margin only.

There’s no upset so far and there’s only one draw so far. Maybe France vs Switzerland will be the second match that ends up with a draw.

Togo has no manager and all the players may have other things in their mind. They’ll lose but by 1 goal margin only.

i think the koreans will draw with togo.i doubt the koreans will win as they have little stamina unlike a country from africa.so far, countries from asia like iran and japan, all conceded goals in the last ten mins of the match due to their lack of stamina.the same to the koreans.i think the french would be able to win over the swiss,if not it would be a bad start for them.the brazilians have a strike force that it is way to good for the croations to handle.this match will be a big match.brazil to win 3-1

JOGO BONITO! At LAST the other 31 teams get to see a completely different game, and moreover the true fans of the game as it should be played do as well. I will credit Crotia as the sternest “test” in that group, but they will be steamrolled 4-0.

France 2 Switzerland 1

South Korea 2 Togo 0

adebayor (the togolese arsenal player) should be good enough to nick at least a goal off the korean defence. otherwise, i haven’t seen togo play so i’ll just pray for a high-scoring draw with lots of incident!

like a bad tv detective, i’ve got a feeling that brazil just won’t perform this year. that could be blind hope. croatia will have to be disciplined and clever to get a result, with the players they’ve got they could sneak a draw.

in the qualifiers, i saw switzerland play eire and was very impressed. hoping they’ll have enough to at least draw with france.

so, i’m going for
croatia to win, switzerland to win, and togo-rok draw. just don’t ask why!

Good to see some much support for the Swiss! Now let’s all get snuggled up in front of the TV and cheer them on.
