Big Question: Who’s Going to Win on Day 4?

By: WC Bob | June 12th, 2006 | 23 Comments »

With three excellent days of football in the books, we return to the work week with another slate of interesting games. Monday kicks off with Australia playing Japan in a critical Group F match for both sides. The United States then gets into the action against the Czech Republic with a Group E nightcap of Italy versus Ghana.

I don’t know about you, but my predictions thus far have been less than stellar. Help me out and let the world know who will win today’s three games.

I say Australia and Czech republic win by a narrow margin and Italy dominates. The again, I was sure Sweden and Portugal would win by a lot as well…

I think now we’ll see the tightest group opening: Italy, Czech Rep and USA are very much on a same level. Maybe not from talent, but definitely from playing style. I think that’s gonna be an interesting one. And who knows, maybe Ghana secures the first win for an African team on this WC!

And today the football (oops, soccer) euphorics down-under will receive a severe blow.

Australia vs Japan 1-2
Czech Republic vs USA 1-0
Italy vs Ghana 1-0

Wow … tough to call

My guesses are
Italy-Ghana 3-2
USA-Czech 1-1

Considering Japan’s friendly against Malta (only a 1-0 win with the Maltese hiting the post twice) I guess their up for a crash by the Socceroos ! 3-0 for the australians

USA is gonna BRING IT, baby!!! 2-1.

Azzurri is BACK and will thump Ghana 3-1.

Socceroos will slip by the Nipponese 1-0..both fan bases are out in force even as far away as Frankfurt..saw this Aussie carrying a HUGE stuffed roo in the train station this a.m. as I headed to “work” and lots of smiling, ever-polite Japanese fans boarding as well.

You cannot beat this Cup..it is one big nonstop PARTY!!! And the best part arrives tomorrow at 9 p.m. BRASIL, baby!!!

Ghana will defend well and will win the midfield battle. Expect either a 1-0 or 2-1 result.
