Big Question: Where are you going to watch the World Cup?
One of my fondest memories of past World Cups comes from 2002. With the games played many time zones away in Asia, I had to stay up really, really late to watch the action live. At the time I also didn’t own a television so almost every night for a month I went down the street to a local pub and watched the matches with a bunch of other crazy souls who started out as strangers and soon became friends. Because we have readers from all over the globe living in many different time zones, I am interested in what your plans are for this World Cup.
Today’s Big Questions is actually a number of questions.
For those of you who have to work while the games are being played will you be calling in sick a lot, taking vacation days or watching at the office? For those in Asia, will you be staying up all night to watch your teams? Are any of you actually going to Germany for the matches? Will you watch at home or do you like to watch with others at a pub?
I’ll be in Germany for the World Cup, but it remains to be seen if I will actually see any of the games in person. I am hoping to check out some of the games on the big public screens that will be in the various cities and it is likely I will be visiting a pub or two. The one thing I have going for me is that this job will let me watch almost every game without having to call in sick for work. A blessed man, I am.
What are your plans?
