Big Question: What has been the best individual performance thus far?

By: WC Bob | June 17th, 2006 | 22 Comments »

My, how time flies by. We are already nearly halfway through the 48 first round matches. Some games have been entertaining, some have been about as fun as having a root canal. In either case, we have already seen some very good individual efforts by players both well known and obscure.

Of all the performances thus far, which player’s effort stands out in your mind as the best?

Both Niko and Robert Kovac for Croatia. Their preformances not only inspired the team but the nation as well.

It has to be Saviola who is picking the opponents defense like no other. He is also playing great defense.

Lol
That’s a no brainer…Clearly it’s got to be Beckabauer!!!
A truely awsome display of photo ops.
(Mind you, Maradonna’s made a stunning run to seize the prize in his last couple of appearances.)

tim cahill

i’m not saying that the socceroos will beat brazil, but a healthier kewell and cahill starting will give them a game.

Riquelme. I have never seen someone distribute the ball so well, he was involved in almost every play, the ball always went through him. Or we could say the entire Argentina is deserving of it.

Lots of candidates so far: Kaka, Riquelme, Terry, Toni, Xavi among them, but will go with Kaka. He is like a lion released from a cage. Look for the best through-balls of this tournament from him, and a few more thunderous goals as well.

So far I think the most impressive goal was by Zied Jaziri for the Iranian team when they played against Saudi Arabia. His kungfu kick to score the first goal was nothing but well timed and well performed! :D

Kaka so far has proven himself the hidden golden bullet for Brazil playing quite well with Ronaldinho and Roberto Carlos inplace of the now defunct Ronaldo. All in all I think alot of players have performed well…still there no “I” in team :p
