the USA team always stink-
they do not ever play good-they
will never learn to play soccer-
they do not ever deserve to be near a WORLD CUP stadium–they
are a complete disgrace for the USA–
USA-PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM SOCCER

Which team has been most impressive? Spain

Which team has been least impressive? USA :(

What was the best game to watch? Sweden v Trinidad & Tobago

What was the worst game to watch? France v Switzerland

What result was most surprising to you? Sweden v Trinidad & Tobago

Based solely on first performances, Spain is the team to beat at the moment. Argentina, Italy, Germany, Sweden, & the Czech Republic all looked good. Holland isn’t quite there yet, but has promise. Brasil isn’t on form yet.

Germany’s last minute win yesterday might be pointing to something special for them…we’ll see. :)

Most impressive: Spain (maybe this time they’ll get to the semifinals…)
Least impressive: France, followed by England and not-so-mighty Brazil
Best game: T&T vs Sweden - best goalless match ever!
Worst game: France vs Switzerland
Most surprising result: Poland 0 - Ecuador 2 (after the lackluster friendlies, many of us in Ecuador were expecting a Polish victory)

I want to know why I hear no one criticizing the Saudi’s for their poor game management. They were given a free kick deep in Tunisia territory with a 1 goal lead. They decided to serve into the box, losing the ball which eventually led to the Jaidi goal….

*Which team has been most impressive?
Nine teams impressed me. In order of most impressive to least:
Spain, Argentina, Italy, Ecuador, Czech Republic, Germany, Australia, Netherlands, Croatia.

*Which team has been least impressive?
Ukraine and USA are easy answers, but I’d include France, and the lackluster Brazil and England.
*What was the best game to watch?
Spain vs Ukraine, Germany vs Poland, Ecuador vs Costa Rica were all great games, but I’d select T&T vs Sweden as the best so far.
*What was the worst game to watch?
As a fan of Brazil and USA, their two openers.
*What result was most surprising to you?
T&T’s tie with Sweden; Spain’s blow-out of Ukraine.

The speed that Czeck Republic displayed against the US Team is unbelievable. Their speed is suspicious. I hope somebody is checking for drug use by the athletes.

Most Impressive Team - Spain ( nobody here expected such a great game ), but they´ll encounter Brazil at quarter finals, so they won´t be able to make it to semi-finals ( again )

Least impessive team - England, I expected much more from this squad

Best game to watch - I enjoyed a lot with Brazil - Croatia but also with Argentina - Ivory Coast

Worst game to watch - England - T&T ( the english team didn´t deserve that 2-0 win )

Most suprising result - Ecuador 2 - Poland 0

Which team has been most impressive?

Which team has been least impressive? England. Right after that dismal play with Paraguay I lost all hope that this time they’ll be doing some great football.

What was the best game to watch?
The Tunisia vs. Saudi Arabia game was what I think was a sleeper hit. No one thought these two almost unknowns would produce such an exciting pace and killer goals!

What was the worst game to watch? Oh man the USA vs. Czech Republic…that was just sad. I couldn’t believe the USA got this far into the qualifying matches and then all of a sudden die out to the underdogs!

What result was most surprising to you? Ecaudor vs. Costa Rica! From what I saw in the highlights it was an amazing game Ecuador outpaced, outplayed, and outskilled CRC! To have a killer 3-0 game lead was just phenomenal!

Matt,
We know about football”soccer” and we are part of the world whether you like it or not. And no, we will not leave the game for you, we will learn it better and whip your *** one day.. That’s said, we have the utmost respect for brits and the rest of the world, so you know.

Dave Hamilton,
I couldn’t said it better myself, right on the money.

Best Names: KaKa, Shaka and Zidane, because that guy on the French side has the same name as “The great Zidane”.
Worst Name: Crouch. But don’t stop the silly ‘Robot Dance’ Petey me lad, that is precisely the kind of exuberance England lack right now.
Ugliest Uniform: What is that ridiculous paint swatch across the Costa Rican jersey, yech! England: Just boring! Bring back the red of ‘66. Germany: Ditto!
Best Uniform: Gotta love Croatia. And who is going to argue with the Dutch orange? When artist Barnet Newman famously asked “who’s afraid of red, yell and blue?” he apparently had never come across the fearless Ecuadorian squad.
Which team has been most impressive? The Czech Republic was fast, powerful and precise. Could we be looking at the cup hoisters here? I wait to see what they will do in face of more formidable opposition. I love Calypso, I love steel band, I love Soca music and I would be sad to see T & T go, but go they might right now.
Which team has been least impressive? The U.S.A. was surprisingly dithering, cloudy-headed and uninspired. You’ve got to at least chase the ball, what were they doing there? It was agony to watch.
What was the best game to watch? I can only imagine the Socceroo’s emotional last minute dismantling of Japan had to be scintillating. All war-time rivals make for emotionally piqued battles.
What was the worst game to watch? My English heart weeps for the shackles that bind the legs of my heroes. And I have oft heard rumors of the reckless prescribing of Prozak in the U.S.A.
What result was most surprising to you? Although here in Indonesia we watch the games between 9:00 pm and 5:00am, I am surprised how many times I have fallen asleep before the end of a game, not a good thing in this particular World Cup.

And BTW, could we get more precise flag assignment to determine where each post is coming from? Are all posts from the Pacific Islands to Burma listed under the Aussie flag? A Mexican post under the U.S. banner? Etc., etc. Makes the above discussion a wee bit more interesting and nuanced.

Argentina-brilliant display of how a potential world-cup winner ought to play in the group stages. England-AWEFULL!!They WILL get knocked out in the next round(unless some amphibian plague torments either germany or equador before the match!)Stranger things have happened…

Ivory Coast have done themselves proud. Definately the rookies of the tournament!

Equador are the biggest shockers of the tornament.

Italy are looking good but if anything goes wrong the team’ll probably crumble. They are their own worst enemies!

9 July 2006: Italy vs Argentina.
