Berlin Random Thoughts

As Bob and Chris cruise across the Atlantic to our World Cup HeadQuarters in Berlin, I am busy getting used to Berlin and getting our photo and video sharing competition ready for production.

First thoughts on Berlin and Germany during World Cup
Our headquarters is actually an apartment within a 5 minute walk of this thing. If you are going to be in Berlin anytime between now and July 11th, someone from World Cup Blog will be here as well. Let us know and there will be a daily time to drink some beers and talk about the days action etc.

Berlin seems to be a bit dead to be honest. Yes, there are a few flags and whatnot flying around, but the buzz from being in Germany has not gotten me yet. Of course, I can’t read or speak German, so for all I know folks might be excited.

I did my morning run down to the mini-Olympic stadium by Brandenburg gate. It is not complete yet and looks like they have a ways to go.

Photo and Video Competition
As Bob mentioned – we are putting together a competition with some excellent prizes…but more importantly, it will be fun to see all the different places and ways around the globe that folks celebrate the World Cup.

Here is the beta versions of the World Cup Photo site and the World Cup Blog video site.

If you are super buzzed to see you ugly mug, show us your newest kit, or want to get a feel of how this is going to work here are some instructions on how to get your photos or videos on our site.

World Cup Blog Photo Submittal
1) Set-up an account with Flickr (this is a popular photo sharing site run by our friends at Yahoo! – if you already have an account, don’t set-up another)
2) Upload photos to your Flickr account, and tag every photo you want to show up on the World Cup Blog Fan Photo site “WorldCupBlog”.

Viola! – the photo(s) will start showing up soon after.

World Cup Blog Video Submittal
1) Set-up an account with YouTube (this is a popular video sharing site – if you already have an account, don’t set-up another)
2) Upload photos to your YouTube account, and tag every video you want to show up on the World Cup Blog Fan Video site “WorldCupBlog”.

Viola! – the videos(s) will start showing up soon after.

That’s funny! You’d feel the vibe if it were there! Soon it will be – German or no German.

Berlin is a great town at any time of the year. Being there during the World Cup is a prize. I am green with envy:)

But thanks much for blogging and keeping us updated.

Don’t get me wrong – I am stoked to be here…just the fire of the WC in the streets has not started. When the games get going and the fans are here.

yeah – we think the Flickr and YouTube methods will suit everyone and less chance for technical difficulties. :)
