Beckenbauer Taps Brazil to Host 2014 World Cup

Franz Beckenbauer sure is racking up the frequent flier mileage. The Kaiser is on a globetrotting tour promoting the upcoming World Cup in his homeland and making the countries he visits feel all warm and fuzzy. In Brazil on Friday, Beckenbauer threw his weight behind Brazil hosting the World Cup in 2014. Brazil is likely to try to host the event, which would mark the centenary of the Brazilian Football Confederation. Brazil hosted the 1950 World Cup, an event that some people in Uruguay might just remember.
