Aussies Fire Back at Croatian Cradle Snatchers
Australian football officials are steaming mad at Croatia’s attempts to lure some of their best young players away from the national team. The latest target is 17-year-old Matthew Spiranovic who was born in Australia but is of Croatian decent. Says Australian Institute of Sport head coach Steve O’Connor, “Croatia have sweet-talked some of our boys in the past and we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Nothing is tougher to resist than the sweet talk of a Croatian.
If French is the language of love and German the language of philosophy, than surely Croatian must be called the language of sweet talk.
At Blog Central we don’t know a word of Croatian but when we visited the country we were sweet talked into staying for an extra week so we understand the pressure felt by the young Aussies.
Our resolution to this row: the two countries should enter into discussions about a merger. Call the new country Crustralia, field the best 11 players and let all the sweet talking be done on the pitch.

I think the words pot and kettle would be coming out of the mouths of Samoan and Fijian rugby officials hearing that the Aussies were moaning about a little player poaching.

Interesting.
If the dove is the bird of peace and the hawk is the bird of war. What is the bird of love?
The swallow.

Vaz, get a life. If the players want to play for croatia its understandable. Their teams are more experienced and have more chances of winning. Soccer in Australia is not developed enough. If the players are of Cro descent they might want to play for Croatia.

Aussies, have young players of Croatian descent sign an iron-clad lifelong pledge to never play for those sweet-talking sirens of the Croatian National team. I don’t know how they (National team) are luring them but I’d sure use some of those Croatian models. Oops, wife just came in.

Marin,
You must have missed the world cup. ok, we did draw with you – and that was after ‘aussie’ joe simunic was yellow carded three times – but i cant remember seeing croatia in the next round, do you? you can only imagine diduluca, seric and simunic could only look on wistfully as we were more than a match for eventual champs italy.
