Aragones: Don’t Give Me No Flowers, I’m no Pansy

When Spain coach Luis Aragones speaks, the world cringes. In the latest sign that the 67-year-old is truly unstable, he rejected a welcoming bouquet of flowers at his team’s training camp in Germany because it was threat to his virility. Said Aragones: “There’s no room up my a— for the hair of a shrimp, never mind flowers.” An interesting expression if ever there was one. Do shrimp even have hair and, if so, are they commonly inserted into the backsides of people? The only thing Aragones hates worse than those girly flowers is the color yellow. If I were Ukriane I’d make sure to send him some yellow daisies before the June 14 match.

It must be a nervous time around the Aragones household when, uh, the sun comes up. Every day. Of his life.

Also, please remind me to never sample the shrimp coktail at the Aragones family picnic anymore.

Aragones is just one of those “characters” familiar to Spaniards. His low grade racism is an embarrassment, but it’s just one of his many quirky traits. If he wins they’ll call him eccentric. If he loses he’ll be a racist bum.

Give him some ginseng, or half a dozen oysters

How classy. The man obviously doesn’t understand German hospitality, or simple politeness. I bear Spain and the Spanish team no particular grudge, but together with his racism, I increasingly want Spain to do poorly simply so he is fired.

    Ukraine’s uniforms are yellow

Hasn’t the man heard of a vase?…much easier than shoving it up your backside…

  • Claude

He should take the hint from the Togo coach and resign. FIFA should fine him or better yet tell him to watch the Ukraine game from a hotel room full of yellow pansies and given only shrimp to eat.

Give the guy a break, he is just afraid of yelow so he didn’t like the present. He didn’t say it in public but few minutes later to one of his colleagues but as the spanish journalist are really bored they listened to it and … big news!! come on, let’s focus on football!!
