Angola Might Turn to Mourinho for Help

By: WC Bob | April 13th, 2006 | 9 Comments »

Of all the coaching rumors that have crossed our desks during the past couple of months this is the one that has caught us most by surprise. Angola have evidently asked Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho to help with their World Cup preparations: “He will be asked to assist coach Luis Goncalves de Oliveira, providing input on coaching methods and helping with the man-management and psychological preparation of the players.” It’s not clear if Chelsea will let Mourinho employ his psychological preparation tactics for another team or if the proud Portuguese coach would even want to help a team that will be squaring off against his homeland in the first round.

For us, the mere thought of Mourinho helping Angola is like two worlds colliding. Angola is our sentimental team this summer. They represent all that is right in this world. Mourinho is our definition of the Dark Side. Undoubtedly he would be able to help Angola because he is a good coach, but he is also a world-class jackass.

This is turning out to be quite the day for Group D. We’ve learned that Iran have a bigamy problem and now this. Portugal and Mexico fans should be forewarned. Your bizarre news stories are coming next.

Bob – Mourinho is the dark side? A bit harsh don’t you think? Maybe the dark knight? Should all our coaches be soft and cuddly?

I like my coaches soft and cuddly. If he is able to help out the Palancas I might join his fan club. Well, probably not, but I might not cringe every time I see him.

Fair enough. Maybe we should make you an honorary Portuguese. You might change your mind. :-)

If Portugal wants to naturalize me for the World Cup I might be open to the idea. They do need a replacement for Andrade and I happen to play his position…

What a news! I dont think Mourinho will want to help though. It would be interesting if he did.
