A Football Trophy Second to Some

I had to laugh today when I came across a story on the UEFA website hyping the new trophy that will be handed out to the winner at EURO 2008. The new trophy has been “brought up to date to reflect the scale and size of Europe’s most prestigious national-team tournament.”

Yes, there is no doubt now that teams know they will be playing for a bigger and shinier trophy they will want to win the tournament even more. They will go all out now that they know, “You won’t find a superior trophy.” At least that is according to the trophy designer who might be slightly biased in the matter.

You decide for yourself. Is the new EURO cup really better than some of the other trophies around the world?

I don’t think so.
