A Foosball Table Trip around the World
We’re always big fans of people who do absurd things for no logical reason. That’s kind of how World Cup Blog got started four years ago. Now we are your worst nightmare (insert evil laugh). But in terms of absurdity, Englishman Andy Sloan might take the cake. The dude spent an entire year traveling around the world with a foosball table challenging people to games. In Europe, Russia, Iran, India, the Himalayas and the Far East, Sloan had quite a few adventures - from meeting England boss Sven and Brazilian legend Pele to taking tea at the Dalai Lama’s home.
Like most ridiculous ideas, this one started after a night of drinking. Unlike most ridiculous ideas, Sloan actually went through with it and he has detailed it all in a newly released book called ‘23 Sweet FAs – Round the World with a Football Table.’
The chapter we are most interested in reading is the one where he plays FIFA head honcho Sepp Blatter. We hope he kicked Sepp’s ass.
By the way, we welcome all challengers when it comes to foosball. When we were in our early teens we were simply unstoppable at the game. We had this one little guy whose legs were broken off so we had to use tape in their place. The guy was the Ronaldinho of his day. You couldn’t stop his shot. We played the game for hours. No wonder we’re still single.
So if anyone wants to throw down a game or two when you’re in Germany this summer, we say bring it on!
