32 Cultual World Cup Balls

As I reflect back on the past half a year I have spent working on this blog, I would have to say that one of the coolest things about it has been the opportunity I have had to have dialogues with people from all over the planet. The World Cup does not always bring out the best in people, as well have seen from time to time on this site, but it does bring the world a little bit closer and it does help us to understand different cultures a bit. Here is a site that I think has a really cool representation of the 32 countries that participated in the 2006 World Cup.

Is it just me or are France and Korea missing?

  • sooz

    so incredibly cool

  • Claude

You are right, France and S. Korea are missing. Another error is that Germany doesn’t translate into Frankreich. Frankreich is german for France.

Flamenco and bullfighting… i hate that so much… i hope people don’t think in those things when they think in spain in the future… pleaseeeee!

  • Danny

Yeah Spain’s ball should have been something to reflect their pathetic attitude towards blacks in their soccer leagues. Yeah I saw that ESPN special on racism destroying the “beautiful game” right before the World Cup. Aragones is a smuck. Karma is a punk huh Spanish fans. Out of all the teams in the WC, Spain had to be ousted by France. Spain’s whole soccer federation is a disgrace and a team i would never rout for unless they clean up their act real soon.

  • susana

come on… if flamenco and bullfighting is not representative of spanish people, racist people who go to the matches to do so stupid things neither. you have to understand that is not the common behaviour of spanish people, they are a few part of the people (like in all countries, unfortunately) and we don’t want them of course, but it very difficult to get them out!!

  • CA KL LA

Lol, Danny. Thanks, Bob, nice display of balls.

nice to see denim chosen as the US ball. it’s such an interesting and meaninful fabric…from the history of denim being workers’ clothes to the wear and fade that is achieved over the life of a personal pair.
