Peter

Although too awkward and slow to ever play competitively, World Cup Blog’s intern/contributing writer Peter is a recent “soccer” convert and an up-and-coming fanatic. A student in Southern California during the academic year, he has won several awards for his writing, only some of which were written on the back of paper plates. You can read Peter’s stuff on various websites, in his college newspaper and in a lot of notebooks under his bed, but his best work will be appearing on the blog in the coming months.

Peter has felt a ton of pressure since being selected for the World Cup Blog team and his rabid fans back in Oregon will be disappointed by anything less than a quarterfinals appearance. “Being eliminated from the blog before the tournament ends would be devastating to my confidence,” he said. “I’ll just have to take it one day at a time and try to develop some chemistry living with like eight guys I don’t know in a foreign country for a month watching the World Cup.” We haven’t told Peter that we’re not voting people out of the blog yet.

Peter labels himself the “Internet equivalent of Peter Crouch,” his favorite player, and hopes that in addition to having similar names and body types, that they both get to see a World Cup match in Germany.

Look for Peter to reference Star Wars while liveblogging and email questions about his extensive Lego collection or various other topics to peter[at]worldcupblog.org
