Hiddink will Sacrifice his Liver for a Russian Victory

By: WC Bob | November 9th, 2006 | 1 Comment »

At one time I thought that Guus Hiddink might be the perfect candidate to guide Russia through Euro 2008 qualifications. The guy has worked miracles everywhere he has managed and Russia could use a bit of a miracle or two considering their form the past few years.

But then I came across this story talking about how Hiddink doesn’t drink much and that he’ll begrudgingly drink some vodka if Russia qualifies. Not sure how the lack of vodka love slipped through the interview process, but you would think that would be the top question asked of all potential managers in the country. I give Hiddink less than a year there now.

It sounds like Paul Gascoine would be the perfect coach for Russia. He might not produce a winner but he’ll be too drunk to care.
