World Cup Blog Power Rankings
There weren’t any friendlies played this week, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any changes in our power rankings. We take into account the news coming out of all 32 countries and base our ranking on current form and how we project they will do in the World Cup. Last week’s initial rankings were determined by a panel of one, me. This week we received some reader and blogger feedback and that is reflected in the rankings. In future weeks we might even make this an online democracy where you can vote and stuff the ballot boxes with your favorite team. As always, your feedback is welcomed and does influence future rankings.
Last week’s rankings in ( )

A bit harsh on the Concacaf powers, I think. No way that the US should be 4th, as in FIFA’s rankings, but 16? Also, if you’re going to put Mexico ahead of the US, they should be right next to each other.
I’d have the US or Mexico at 10, the other at 11.

Still 10 for Croatia, I’m proud of the faith in them. Hope they live up to most of it. Early in Spring I didn’t think they’d get this high, but they have jelled lately. The next 8 up are a close pack, indeed. Brazil is Brazil of course. The US is shaping up to be the biggest disappointment in the WC. They need to pull together some cohesion and pretty quick. I could see some upward move for the US if they can impress us down the line. At this point I can’t see the US ahead of Serbia & Montenegro or the Ukraine.

Why does Iran keep getting lower rankings after each weak? It’s not like other teams have had friendlies. If anything we should have moved up this week, since one of our best players is back, Niki Vahedi, and Mobali who is the best free kick taker (along with nakamura of japan) is to set aside his differences with Daie and return to the team, also Talebloo is to replace Mirzapour in goal. So with Niki our left back is strong again and Talebloo is hella better than Mirzapour.
Oh and btw regarding the Ecuador comment, The oldest man in the world is actually in Iran who is 132, but foreign officials won’t recognize him for some reason.

Nice to see Trinidad & Tobago getting some type of respect. We are working very hard to come out of the first rounds and make it to the 2nd rounds.
