Sepp Blatter has a Bulls Eye on his Back
A leading football administrator says that the six confederations are set to restructure the way FIFA is run so that the confederations have more power to oversee the sport in their regions. He said: “The confederations will propose that FIFA is run by an executive purely made up from the six confederations which will be left to run the game in their own areas as they see fit. It is time for the confederations to have more say in how they run the game in their own regions.”
Representatives from the six confederations are scheduled to meet to draw up proposed changes ahead of December’s FIFA executive committee meeting.
I’d love to be a fly on the wall when they explain to Sepp Blatter that they want to take power and authority away from him. The image of a three-year-old having a tantrum comes to mind.
I have no idea if this move will aid the sport or not. After all, bozos like Jack Warner run the confederations. But this does seem to make a bit of sense:
“FIFA will still be in charge of the game at international level, such as running the World Cup, and so the revenue from that will still be divided evenly,” the official said.
“But each confederation is different and needs to be treated as such. It cannot be just one size fits all.”
