Save of the Day
We’ve seen some great goalkeeping this World Cup but none of the keepers has made a save quite like the one made by a fan in Portugal. Orlando Fonseca was watching Portugal play Iran on Saturday when he heard some commotion coming from the third-floor apartment upstairs. He leaned out the window to tell his neighbors to shut up only to have a woman from the apartment fall into his arms.
Explains Fonseca: “I leant out of the bedroom window and there was a gang of people watching her in the window. She was dancing away on the window sill. Next the glass smashed and she fell. I caught her with my arm and pulled her in. She was not heavy but you can see a big bruise on my arm. She is a crazy, crazy woman. She said ’sorry’ to me but was still smiling.”
Fonseca has not been contacted by the Portugal team to tryout for keeper for 2010, but undoubtedly somebody from Chelsea spotted his save and is trying to sign him to a long-term contract.
