Pele Offered 2014 World Cup Role

By: WC Bob | September 25th, 2006 | 7 Comments »

The one and only Pele has been offered the gig of president of Brazil’s 2014 World Cup Organising Committee by the Brazilian Football Confederation. Pele’s role would be similar to the one held by Franz Beckenbauer this past World Cup, namely to fly around the world and tell every country how good their team will be in the tournament. One stumbling block in the whole matter is that Pele’s image is already under contract to someone else for the next 20 years and the World Cup job might be a conflict of interest. Can you imagine getting paid by someone just for your imaging rights? Ok, I’m opening up my image to the highest bidder. Do I hear $5?

why hand brazil the 2014 cup.

they need to built a load of new grounds.

children as young as 6 carry guns shooting whomever they please. (see. City of God).

it’s too warm in south america for the major european clubs to perform well, why does fifa want to give it to Brazil 4 years after Africa.

People are saying that South Africa is pretty damn hot as well. I can’t say, my desire to go anywhere south of Sicily is similar to my want for bird flu.

Give England the cup, and move it to january.

The cup cannot come back to Europe until 2018 and I think it should go to Spain, Sweden or England again. If 2014 has to be in South America it should be in Argentina.

If cool weather teams like the Western Europeans have to play in hot humid climates like South Africa and Brazil to win the world cup it would only be fair that every 40 years or so the world cup be held in January in Western Europe. Late January wouldn’t be such a bad pick since most European leagues are off for 3 to 4 weeks for Christmas and their mid season breaks. So since Russia has never hosted the world cup I propose we give it to Russia in January of 2018 but no later than end of February 2018. If Russia can’t have then let’s give it to the Nordic nations of Norway, Sweden and Finland. We have done 2 countries what is wrong with 3? If it is truly to be the world cup than it should be played in cold conditions, average conditions and hot conditions. Don’t we deserve to see how Brazil plays in minus 40 degree temperatures? We know how good they are in 90+. ROFLMAO
