FIFA’s Jack Warner not too excited about England’s 2018 World Cup Bid

By: WC Bob | August 9th, 2007 | 6 Comments »

It is hard to take a man who has proven to be as corrupt as Jack Warner seriously, but since he has a firm stranglehold on his position as FIFA vice-president and because he is best friends forever with Sepp Blatter we must.

On Thursday the president of Concacaf made it clear in no uncertain terms that he doesn’t want the 2018 World Cup to be held in England.

“If the World Cup were to go to Europe, I’m quite sure, with the English luck as it is, they won’t get it,” Warner told BBC World Service.

“There are moves to give it to England. I must fight that.”

Warner, a member of the world football body’s executive committee since 1983, added: “It will be Italy, Spain, or even France who will get the World Cup if it goes to Europe.

“Nobody in Europe likes England. England invented the sport but has never made any impact on world football.”

Damn, tell us how you really feel about England, Jack. For some reason the suits at FIFA take this man seriously and therefore his opposition to England hosting the World Cup will probably also be taken seriously even if he is completely off the mark.

First, CONCACAF already have too many spot. FIFA gives CONCACAF 3.5 spots to make it absolutely certain that USA would make it to the World Cup every single time. And only two nations can really host the World Cup in CONCACAF, USA and Mexico. It would do other nations injustice if US can host it again so soon. And before the world cup, US manager said Australia was “easy beats” :) Anyway, US should just concentrate on their own sport and leave football along.

Canada? They can’t even quality with countries like Costa Rica, Jamaica in it. And they wanna host? Hmmm, Canada and US should just concerntrate on what they are good at (hockey, baseball) and leave football to the professionals

Australia is so much better, qualifying with New Zealand a Fiji. It should have been Uruguay in 2006, a much better team than the stinkaroos. Go eat a vegamite sandwich…oh and by the way a dingo just ate your baby mate!
