Eriksson Fears for Job as England Wins Virtual World Cup

By: WC Bob | December 19th, 2005 | No Comments »

As if the pressure on Sven-Goran Eriksson weren’t enough, an English video gamer has shown that England should win the World Cup this year. Using an unconventional 5:2:1:2 formation, 18-year-old Chris Bullard led England to a convincing 5-2 victory over Brazil in the final of the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2005.

Says Bullard of his X-Box strategy, and yes, this is an actual quote:

I play as goalkeeper for my local Sunday League side - and my ‘keeping helped me a lot today! When I play for real I always play with a positive attitude and I competed with the same mentality.

Sven-Goran Eriksson was not available for comment, although it is believed he will be signing up to play keeper for a Sunday League side so that he too can gain a winning edge.
