Argentina Coach: Maradona Should Have My Job

Help Wanted: Soccer superstar who is long retired, notoriously out of shape, frequently in trouble with the law and who has a history of drug abuse.

Those are exactly the qualities Argentina is looking for in a national team coach if one is to believe the words of its current boss Jose Pekerman.

“Diego Maradona should be the coach of Argentina,” Jose Pekerman told the Argentine state news agency Telam in an interview published on Tuesday.

“I’m convinced he has to decide what he wants to do but it’s a situation that has to come about,” said Pekerman, who refers to Maradona as his “greatest idol.”

Anyone else out there as eager as I am to see this train wreck happen?

I am argentinian and I think Pekerman stated that sarcastically because the press in argentina always interviews maradona asking him who he thinks should be the starters and than they tell pekerman and i think he got tired of it…But i honestly doubt theyll give him the job…It doesnt matter argentina is going to be a superpower in soccer no matter who the coach is if they do put maradona as coach just for propaganda and only because he was the best player to ever set foot onto grass..
