Argentina and Chile Could Co-host in 2014

By: WC Bob | April 13th, 2006 | 9 Comments »

Slow down with those plans to visit Brazil in 2014. FIFA czar Sepp Blatter said Thursday that a joint bid by Argentina and Chile could be a possibility, especially if Brazil is unable to improve its stadiums and infrastructure. “Why not present a joint bid between Argentina and Chile?” Blatter asked the O Estadio de Sao Paulo newspaper. “At the moment I don’t believe that Brazil has the stadia capable of staging the World Cup,” he said. Blatter also said that if none of the countries in South America are able to come up with a bid that meets the standards set by himself and his pals than the World Cup in 2014 could be held in North America. Nothing like a little economic blackmail eight years in advance. Even though we’d dig visiting Argentina and Chile, we still want Brazil to host this one.

Would be nice to have a WC in Brazil, but if that happens, you might as well hand BR the trophy now. Would any other teams even bother to show up?

Don’t exagerate Luis!!!! In 1950 the World Cup was here and we lost it anyway! Everybody would show up trying to emulate Urugay’s success over legendary Brazil!

Argentina should host it along with Brazil, it would be alot more beneficial for Argentina on the whole. They havn’t hosted the cup in centuries.

I’m so ecstatic that we’re getting the 2010 World Cup! I’m so looking forward to it.
As for 2014, I’m all for it being in South America – but why not first go through the list to see which country is suitable, but has NOT hosted yet before a final decision is made?
