The Soca Warriors of Trinidad and Tobago make their World Cup debut today against World Cup mainstays Sweden. T&T has the oldest team in the competition and is led by the ageless Dwight Yorke. Sweden has its own household names in Freddy Ljunberg, Henrik Larsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Can the Soca Warriors spring the upset or will Sweden start off its campaign in style? Sweden will be without first team goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson who is out with a concussion.

I don’t have too much in expectations for T&T, but it would look great for CONCACAF if they could take at least a point today.
I’m listening to a radio station from there (asx) where they sound remarkably calm as they discuss the game. One of them was remarkably candid saying that he felt scared — that if Paraguay with all its experience couldn’t keep from giving the game away in the first 4 minutes, T&T is in trouble. I thought this was the time for unbridled optimism.
