THE BIG PICTURE
Brazil are through, and Japan need a big win and a draw (coupled with Australia not winning) to join them. Expect Japan to go for goals since they have no other option and Brazil to counter without mercy.
Scout Report – Brazil
Brazil are through, Brazil are winning, Brazil are yet to concede, but Brazil are still failing to impress. It’s possible that Parreira will change the line up slightly and give the likes of Juninho and Robinho more of a game here, though he’s suggested he’ll start Ronaldo again. This Ronaldo thing is getting bigger with each game. More than any other big name player, he needs to put in a decent performance and ward off the circling vultures. Maybe he could try moving?
Scout Report – Japan
Still toothless up front, it’s a lot to ask Japan to beat Brazil by a big scoreline. Japan will be without captain and defender Tsuneyasu Miyamoto, who is suspended after collevting two yellow cards. Midfielders Nakamura and Nakata have been in decent form, creating some nice passing moves that ultimately go nowhere. Goalkeeper Kawaguchi looked impressive against
Croatia, but he may need to be even better today.
