You are right, Denni, England is the land of excuses and with England just scraping through 1-0 against Paraguay, when it expected a far better score excuses had to be made, but to blame the weather is a bit rich. David Beckham agreed with Eriksson “you don’t realise how hot it was out there, we were exhausted”. I suppose it wasn't hot for Paraguay, only England felt the heat. The weather excuse is as old as Methuselah - unacceptable. Try another one Beckham.

England is the land of excuses. This is the country where trains get delayed 'because of the wrong kind of snow'. The rainiest country in Europe that has drought orders. The place where--when somebody's staggering incompetence causes havoc or outright disaster--'more training' is recommended.

So what was the excuse on offer in the dying minutes of the game?

<i>"Of course, the first match of the tournament is always the most difficult!"</i>

Eh??

But England scraped through, so I'm not complainin'

Ok, the guys are a little bit exaggerating. But the English will be over-confident in this one - and get a nose-stub. If they're lucky, they'll pull off a draw.

And I shall be dancing in the streets! ;)
