THE BIG PICTURE
England advanced to the round of 16 in less than stellar fashion. The Three Lions did notch a couple of wins and a draw, but at times looked like a mortal team. None of that matters know that they are in the knockout stage. They will be without Michael Owen who has been lost for the tournament with an injury. England’s opponent, Ecuador, is one of the surprise teams still alive. The South American side was very impressive in its first two matches before getting fielding a less than first team side that got drubbed by Germany. This game should feature a contrast in style and will be played in some extreme summer heat.

Ecuador

In Ecuador, Tuesday the 13th is considered a very unlucky day

Quito, Ecuador is said to have the most pleasant climate in the world. It is called the ‘Land of Eternal Spring.’ The temperature rarely drops below 46 degrees Fahrenheit during the night, or exceed 72 degrees Fahrenheit during the day.

The coastal town of Picoaza, Ecuador, was in the midst of a very boring election campaign when a foot deodorant manufacturer came out with the slogan “VOTE FOR ANY CANDIDATE, BUT IF YOU WANT WELL-BEING AND HYGIENE, VOTE FOR PULVAPIES.” Then on the eve of the voting, a leaflet reading: “FOR MAYOR: HONORABLE PULVAPIES” was widely distributed. In one of the great embarrassments of democracy, the voters of Picoaza elected the foot powder by a clear majority; Pulvapies also ran well in outlying districts.

I think now it’s time for Theo Walcott. He is very young but very tallented to. I think this is the match for him.
