THE BIG PICTURE
Both teams have already secured a spot in the knockout round. This game will determine the top spot in Group A, and Ecuador is ahead in goal differential if it’s a draw. Germany needs an outright win against a team that has yet to give up a goal in the tournament. It is all about positioning for these teams with one of the two to face England in the next round. German coach Jurgen Klinsmann has said he will not rest his players. Ecuador coach Luis Fernando Suarez has said he may make a few changes to rest tired legs and avoid players picking up suspensions for the second round.

I’d like Ecuador to do well. However, Germany does look formidable as of late. I hope that if Germany does win it’s not with some ridiculously high number of goals. I hope to see at least a 2-1 goal for Germany. At best I can hope for is Ecuador to tie.

Ecuador has been underestimated from the start. Germany, on the other hand has been overestimated and barely squeaked by a Poland team that Ecuador embarrassed. Unless Ecuador rests their players with yellows tonight, Germany is going to be in trouble.

Vamos Ecuador! It should be a good and technical game. The absence of Tenorio and the possibility of Delgado not playing shouls give Kaviedes and Borja a good chance for them to show their great playing. Ecuador 2-1 Germany
