Poland and Mexico Kick Off a Month Filled with Friendlies

The month of May ushers in an onslaught of friendlies as World Cup teams begin their final preparations for Germany. Today’s featured game is Poland against Lithuania at 20:00 GMT, a match that should help Poland coach Pawel Janas make his final roster decisions. It should also help the Polish hooligans get into head kicking shape before the apocalypse begins. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to track down an online stream for this game so I’ll be checking in with live score from time to time unless one of you is kind enough to post a link to a video stream.

On Friday, Mexico’s team leaves its training camp in paradise to face Venezuela in California. Mexico is one of a handful of teams that have most of its players in one place training together – a bit of a luxury in my opinion. The game against Venezuela is expected to be a mere kick around with the crafty Mexico coach Ricardo La Volpe trying to shield his strategies from the prying eyes of World Cup opponents Angola, Iran and Portugal.

Even if these games are largely meaningless, it is exciting that the teams are beginning to be assembled and the final push towards to the World Cup is about to start. Here’s a list of the upcoming matches. It is not entirely accurate but it gives you an idea of what to expect over the next few weeks.

The Duke – Poland lost 1-0. Not too sure how many highlights you’ll want to see from this one.

Cheers
