Germany’s Golden Generation to Face England at new Wembley Stadium

The much anticipated match between Germany and England never materialized during the 2006 World Cup, but fans of the two countries and tabloid headline writers alike can rejoice in knowing that the two European rivals will square off in a friendly on August 22, 2007 at the new Wembley stadium in London. The two countries have met 29 times since 1908 with England winning 14 times and Germany 11 times.

Germany boss Joachim Loew is rather excited about the young players in his country going so far as to label them a ‘golden generation‘. Let’s hope the much-delayed Wembley stadium doesn’t crumble and leave the golden generation buried in a pile of rubble.

Hope it’s a juicy match and hope England has Germany to belly ache about rather then Portugal. :-)

Oh man, that’ll be swell. It’s way better when good teams organize matches against other good teams (France-Argentina, England-Holland) then waste time playing against the likes of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Can’t wait.
