Eight Uncapped Brazil Players Called Up for Norway Friendly

By: WC Bob | August 1st, 2006 | 10 Comments »

It hasn’t taken long for new Brazil coach Dunga to shake things up. Dunga announced the players who will feature in Brazil’s friendly at Norway on August 16 and the list of names does not include Ronaldinho, Kaka, Adriano and Ronaldo.

This isn’t a big surprise considering those players are a wee bit busy working their way back into shape for their club seasons and also because Dunga is using the friendly as a chance to give some less proven players a chance to show their stuff.

Included in that group are three players who play in Russia and one who is in Ukraine. Is there any league in the world that doesn’t have Brazilian players?

Here’s the list for those of you scoring at home and for those of you who are fans of a man named Fred.

Goalkeepers - Gomes (PSV Eindhoven, Netherlands), Fabio (Cruzeiro)
Defenders - Cicinho (Real Madrid, Spain), Maicon (Inter Milan, Italy), Gilberto (Hertha Berlin, Germany), Marcelo (Fluminense), Lucio (Bayern Munich, Germany), Juan (Bayer Leverkusen, Germany), Alex (PSV Eindhoven, Netherlands), Edmilson (Barcelona, Spain), Luisao (Benfica, Portugal)
Midfielders - Gilberto Silva (Arsenal, England), Elano (Shakhtar Donetsk, Ukraine), Daniel Carvalho (CSKA Moscow, Russia), Morais (Vasco da Gama), Jonatas (Flamengo)
Forwards - Duda Cearense (CSKA Moscow, Russia), Fred (Olympique Lyon, France), Robinho (Real Madrid, Spain), Vagner Love (CSKA Moscow, Russia), Julio Baptista (Real Madrid, Spain), Wagner (Cruzeiro)

Now Brazil have More Excuses than Results

Dunga remained true to his word that local players shall be given a chance for a slot on Brazil National Team which was traditionally reserved for European players by leaving out Ronaldinho, Adriano, Kaka and Ronaldo, Cafu and Emerson; the only player…

Morais plays on my team, Vasco da Gama. It’s nice to have someone on the NT again.

I love Fred!! Let’s see more Fred!! This terrific squad line-up gives me a little hope. More Robinho please! Let’s hope Dunga can show himself to be a credible coach.
