Croatia Fans form Swastika during Italy Match

A few dozen idiots supporting Croatia tried to form a human swastika in the stands during Wednesday’s friendly against Italy in Livorno. As you can see in the video, police eventually stepped in and broke up the pathetic display. I don’t think you need me to tell you that this kind of thing has no place in football and I strongly agree with the folks about Football Against Racism in Europe that FIFA needs to find an appropriate punishment for their actions. Yes, it was a small group of idiots and the vast majority of the fans at the match were cool, but this type of thing can’t be condoned.

  • brasileiro

i really hope those idiots were apprehended.this is disgusting.

  • nicko

the rumours I’ve heard are that neo-naziism is bigger in Croatia than any other european country.

  • Ballzic

Yeah, our butt-head fans making us proud around the world once again. I think individual beatings with large sticks may be in order here.

  • boris

the rumours I’ve heared are that racism is bigger in Australia than in any other country in the world

  • free

    FREE speech.

  • dietmar

my guess is that this had squat to do with footie.

  • Dragan

Well, well, well, our Friendly/Peacfull loving Croatian friends have shown their true colours again.

The other day the Serbs copped a 30k Franc fine for displaying a Banner “Serbia=Kosovo” at the game against the Czecks. So I wonder what FIFA is going to dish out to the Croats??????
(I bet it’l be just a slap on the wrist!)

  • Croat

I just hope that a small bunch of idiots don’t ruin Croatia’s chances of hosting Euro 2012!
The way its heading, Poland/Ukraine will win it by default due to Italy’s match fixing and Croatia’s antics :(

  • boris

Dragan, you should know that you can’t compare one genocidal nation like Serbs with Croats. Maybe, this is a reason why the punishments for Serbs are so “big”.

  • zoltan

boris, Im not a big fan of the croatian football or people.

    take care

  • Dragan

Sorry Boris….. but your a nerd.

  • diego

Question: Who would they punish? Can the Croatian soccer team really be punished for the actions of their fans? Or will they track down everone involved? That seems a little unrealistic.

And why would they do that? What could the swastika even have to do with anything?

  • Mala

The only reason the Croatian fans formed a human Swastika was because the Italian fans came with Croatian Communist flags and banners and chanted “Avanti Fidel” during our national anthem. Obviously it was premeditated. The Croatian fans didn’t come to start trouble. The swastika was only to remind Italy of their nazi past. But of course Italy doesnt get fined.

i heard the ltays were cry babys
and croatian bet the hell of them !!!!!

  • http://ja.com REXY

we are who we are, and noone can change that

  • toonfan

Boris, crack open a history book and educate yourself to the genecide committed by the Croats against the Serbs during WWII. The Croatian Ustazi did things to Serbs that appalled even the Nazis. Croatia is far from being an innocent victim.

  • Stipe

Toonfan, obviously you dont realize that Ustasha not Ustazi were not the only group in the balkans killing innocent victims. You dont realize that the Chetniks were just as brutal. They just werent as organized but they still killed muslims and Croats. Some Jews also joined the Chetniks further fueling the the hatred between Jews and Muslims. So if you do some quick math and add the people that slobodan Milosovic killed plus the ammount Chetniks killed Serbs are definetly not the good guys.

  • ron

Some of our supporters are complete idiots. Too bad they weren’t arrested and put away for some time.

  • Stipe

I agree with ron but i also agree with Mala

  • toonfan

stipe, in English political literature it is translated as Ustasha, Ustazi, Ustasi, etc. depending on which author you read and which translation is used. I’ve read many authors who refer to them using different spellings. I did not insuate in any way that any of them were the good guys. Boris made the point that the Serbs were punished more harshly by FIFA because of their past atrocities in direct comparison with the Croats. I merely pointed out that the Croats have a history of atrocities as well. I am well aware that the region has seen Croats, Serbs, Muslims, Jews, Chetchniks, and others all killing each other with equal ferocity at one point or another in recent history. The Croat fans forming a human Swastika were not good guys either.

  • toonfan

If you agree with Mala, how do you feel about Croatia’s Nazi past?

  • Marko

I agree with the croat fans, i hate communists more than fascists… the italians just asked for it…. dont blame the croats

  • http://fucksrbija.com Ustase Marko

The italian fans provoked the croatian fans by waving the communist flag of yugoslavia which was responsible for the death of 300,000 serbs, What people don’t know is what was happening before world war 2 when cetniks were killing & raping croatias women and children the ustase then came in and killed 600,000 serbian people around 500,000 of which were men and i do not support the fact that they killed women and children but the serbians were doing it first and just like every other bloody time, the serbs started the war.

  • croatian guy

Our fans were provoked but that doesn’t jutify them. Those are few drunk idiots and they don’t represent Croatia. We are niether nazi or communist or anything like that, there are no more ustashas and the war is long over.

  • VGCC

we are not friends of the croats but I was really happy when the have done the svastika in the face af those bastards communists of livorno fans. NE SLOVENIA NE CROAZIA SOLO ISTRIA FIUME E DALMAZIA. SIEG

  • MikeeUSA

Ever heard of freedom of speech?
No, you europeans hate such things.

While I don’t agree with their opinion, and would have rathered they form some type of anti-women’s rights sign… freedom of speech.
