Brazil to Play Wales, Argentina in London

Brazil is now set to play a pair of friendlies in London in early Septemeber. The Brazilian Football Confederation announced that the five-time World Cup champions will face Wales on September 5 at Tottenham’s White Hart Lane. The match will occur two days after Brazil faces Argentina at Arsenal’s new stadium. That match had originally been set for September 2 but was pushed back a day.

The timing off these matches seems odd to me – two contests within 48 hours and also while most of Brazil’s international players are just starting their club seasons. While I’ll never complain about the chance to see Brazil and Argentina square off, I do wish it would happen while both sides are at full strength.

Brazil will face Norway on August 16 in its first match under new coach Dunga. Brazil will not play India, a move that some are nearly equating to India electing not to participate in the 1950 World Cup.

I’d like to see wales play the aussies. the national competition they have in rugby would spill over. would be great games, with a little of the rugby flavour that the aussies showed on the pitch at the cup, which was beautiful I thought. maybe if it rains on the game it will bring it out again!!

These friendlies are only about money.
    That’s all.
CBF and AFA should be ashamed for allowing such matches to take place at a time when players are so out of it.
The best we could do as fans is ignore these games completely.
Players that just joined their teams for a new season shouldn’t be worrying about having to prove themselves like this.
This is the worst time for international games.

BORING….why would they play so soon after the world cup and with everyone getting ready to play in their respective leagues.

Right on Albo …all about the money, I wouldn’t pay to see the game.

always a common complaint is that latin american teams don’t do well in europe, and vice versa. well here are great opportunities for the fresh squads to get their feet wet early on those other turfs. so skill is being develped while money is being made. you see this in all sports. what’s new?
