Swiss People Need to Get in Shape for Euro 2008
I’ve always thought of Switzerland as a nice healthy country full of nice healthy people, but the Swiss government disagrees. According to them, 64% of Swiss people are out of shape and that’s not good enough when you’re co-hosting Euro 2008. So now there’s going to be a national sports week in May, the month before the tournament kicks off, to encourage that allegedly tubby 64% to shape up. Not sure how healthy you can get in one week, but if hosting the tournament encourages people to shake their lazy bones then it can’t do any harm.
In other Swiss news, we now know who’ll be replacing Köbi Kuhn when the long-serving coach finally steps down post-Euro 2008, and it’s none other than current Bayern boss Ottmar Hitzfeld. So the Swiss footy fans of the near future will not only be fitter, they’ll also have a two-time Champions League winner managing their team.
