We interrupt this Commercial to bring you a Football Match
You can run but you can’t hide. The World Cup will not only take control of your life next month, but it will also dominate the advertisements that business use to sell you products. A recent study claims that in countries ranging from Brazil to Hungary to Thailand roughly half of all commercials will refer to football in one way or another. That means you’ll have plenty of opportunity to see the good, the bad and the ugly.
Not everyone will be inundated with football commercials, however.
While American brands will participate in the soccer ads on a global level, domestically, most agencies in the ICOM poll said “the event had ‘very little importance’ or was ‘not important.’”
Since our friends in the United States are going to miss out of a lot of the commercial fun, we figured we would post a couple random World Cup beer commercials. Be forwarned. Both are in the bad/ugly column on the scoresheet.
