The Commerical Behind the Commercial

By: WC Bob | May 7th, 2006 | 25 Comments »

By now I hope you have had the chance to see the Adidas commercial where the two kids pick teams that include some of the great players of today. Well now there’s a pretty cool commercial that shows the making of the first commercial. Have a look:

It´s funny given that kaka is probably the only brazilian player that has not been “living” on the street in his youth.

[...] Bob just posted a clip from making of my favorite Adidas commercial. I even liked that one! Especially I like the part with all the stars talking about when they were kids. [...]

Why does the one kid laugh when the other picks a player and who is that other player? He looks like an older player just spliced in. #5 I believe was his number.

Val — the kid laughs because Jose (the skinny kid) has picked Franz “The Kaiser” Beckenbauer, who was a famous player for West Germany in the late-60’s and 70’s.

His image is digitally inserted, as is that of Michel Plantini (the one picked by the bigger kid after Zidane whispers to him). Plantini was a star for France in the 80’s.

I may be wrong, but I think Jose is wearing an old West German shirt. It might help explain his penchant for selecting German players!

why did jose pick all those players when there is so many other players he could have picked instead like raul from spain or chistian ronaldo? seeing how raul is probably the best foward in soccer after henry.

sure, it’s jose’s dream team… but the whole football world isn’t all under contract with Adidas. I think Pele would have been a good pick…

Great. As if I hadn’t watched these ads enough, now I have to go through frame by frame to catch a glimpse of Trezeguet.

Thanks for the team lists!

The boys are speaking spanish in the making of the video clip. The actual commercial has the narrator speaking Portuguese? Where is the setting of the actual commercial and what language is being spoken?
