Another Candidate for Worst World Cup Commercial

With the World Cup fast approaching, it is starting to become clear which advertising campaigns are good and which are worse than watching Saudi Arabia play Tunisia. Nike’s Joga Bonito commercials are great. Adidas also has some clever ads. Poor Pepsi, however, continues to churn out some real stinkers. A few weeks back we introduced you to this less than stellar effort. Today we offer the awful commercial below. Warning: this ad features the music of Christina Aguilera. It makes us feel sorry that Thierry Henry ever agreed to be part of this campaign.

That song already occured in their last spot, the bavarian Trachten group one. The song is sort of a mock of Da Da Da by Trio, one of the 80’s hits of Neue Deutsche Welle.

For me the best thing about the ad was Henry’s quizzical eye brow raise. A moment of – “are they really paying me enough for this”, perhaps?

Is that Roberto Carlos on the stands too? Poor guy! I never drink Pepsi here anyway. Coke is far better. Now this commercial finished to bury that brand. They used to have cool commercials, like that arqueologist one (very old). But this just shows that they lost it, completely. Pepsi is dead and buryed to me.

well, i liked the commercial… although i liked the previous one more (where they appear in different countries, both Christina and Elissa, like in china and india..).. but hey i like both of the singers and am impressed in the way elissa sang… she is good!!
